COMPOST

‘Compost’ is the working title of a collaboration with Phillipa Klaiber. The first stage of the work was shown at the Boomsatsuma Gallery, Bristol, in July 2022

'Compost' uses the central themes of queer theory and ecology to re-frame how we think about sexuality, gender and our relationship to the world around us. Queer Ecology aims to break down the perceived separation between humanity and nature, arguing that this “us and them” mentality creates a closed-system in which humanity impacts a natural world that it is detached from. Simultaneously, Queer Ecology applies the biological evidence of non-heteronormativity, found within the non-human species that we live alongside, to the way society views sexuality and gender.

Through collaborative photographic experimentation, we aim to reflect the symbiotic relationship of Queer Ecology.
